The Little Journal Project Week 2 & 3

I had a lot of fun finishing up weeks two and three of Ashley's Little Journal Project over at Lil Blue Boo

Day 9: Group Photo
This picture is from my 18th birthday. I LOVED Perry the Platypus at the time, and what started as a joke between my sister Hannah, my friend Caleb, and I turned into my birthday theme. My husband Paul was just a really good friend of mine at the time, and he was in USAF training 3 hours away. I had invited him to my birthday party, but he didn't believe he could make it. Well, he had already given my gift to my family, so we made plans to Skype with him when i around 6pm so he could see me open it. Around 5:45 or so, I was in the kitchen talking with some friends when I heard someone walk in. I looked up and saw Paul standing in the kitchen and I started crying. I have rarely been that excited in my life. I was speechless! {The only other time that would rival this excitement was when he proposed.} Best Birthday EVER! The picture on this page was taken after my party when a group of us went to see a late showing of Captain America.

Day 10: Things that are Important to You
Well, I think it was supposed to be trinkets...but there are no rules, right? Starting from top left: A quilt my grandmother made, Blackie-My stuffed animal dog I've had FOREVER...he has been all over the country, My wedding band and engagement ring {yellow gold, pear cut diamond}, earring that were my grandmother's, a monogram necklace from my husband, a small diamond ring my grandmother gave me for my 13th birthday, and a tea cup from the Father Daughter conference my sister and I went to with my dad in 2006...I think.

Day 11: Somewhere You Spent a lot of Time as a Child
My grandparents' old farm. My grandfather bred Pointers for a while and I loved playing with the puppies! {The pony and 4 wheelers were fun too!}

Day 12: Books You Loved as a Child
This was both really easy and super hard. I read every possible second I could as a child, and read almost anything I could get my hands on. Here are some of my favorites: The American Girl Doll Books, Brown Bear Brown Bear, The life of Faith Series {Millie was my favorite}, Red Rock Mysteries, The Hobbit, Fancy Nancy, The Hunger Games, Sherlock Holmes, Woof, Mustang: Wild Spirit of the West, The Treasure Tree, Little House on the Prairie, The Chronicles of Narnia, The Lord of the Rings, Misty of Chincoteague, Crown and Covenant Series, and many many more.
Also, it is rather hard to write with crayons...

Day 13: Random Bits of Paper
i found some pretty paper, tape, and stickers to add some 'flair' to my journal.

Day 14: Family Tree
I'm still working on this one-gathering details from my family and in-laws, but I'm enjoying this greatly. I feel like it is something my future kids will enjoy looking at one day.

Day 15: Draw with Your Non-Dominant Hand & Write Down Some Thoughts
I drew and colored two Corgis from start to finish with my left hand. I must admit the I surprised myself! The writing was done with my right hand. I feel like God has been teaching {and giving} me patience. It is so hard to wait for the things we want...and to be grateful for the things we have. I feel like patience with other people is somewhere I often fail, but God is good to forgive and help us when we ask Him. Oh! I also added a bit of the flair from Day 13.

I'm still loving this project and looking forward to next week's prompts! I hope you enjoyed looking at my pages!

  3. Sarah, I loved your group page, mostly because you told the story of Paul walking in and you starting to cry. It was a real sweet story. Isn't this the best project? I'm having such fun with my pages, hope you'll stop by and check 'em out tomorrow. Suzy
